So excited!!

Good Morning!  It's a beautiful day in New York City and a perfect morning to start a blog.

I'm very excited to be starting a new adventure at PS 163!  It's going to be a year of learning and GROWING! GROWING???  Yes, this year, I will be facilitating the work that will be done in the school's garden with some very experienced gardeners.

Living down the street from two community gardens has given me an appreciation for the joys of gardening.  In the past, I've had the opportunity to plant or just sit in the gazebo enjoying the time outdoors in one of the more beautiful and peaceful corners of the West Side.

Please stay tuned for updates and resources.   If you are a gardener too, share your thoughts, resources and words of encouragement. Thank you and have fun playing in the dirt!

  1. When I owned a home I always gardened - flowers and vegetables. Now as an apt. dweller I'm limited to growing herbs on the window sills. It's so therapeutic to work the earth. Are the students going to be involved?

  2. The students are a critical part of this garden’s success. They will have the opportunity to work in the garden with their class or with The Gardening Club.

I will keep everyone informed of our progress through the blog. Eventually, the students that are in The Gardening Club will take over the reporting.

Tina, please join as a follower!

  3. thanks for the invite, seagal. of all the things i grew (and btw, they were all legal), the most amazing thing was corn. from a little seed a six foot stalk emerged bearing two ears of corn. one of life's delightful culinary experiences has got to be eating an ear of corn freshly picked from the garden :)
